What is Love?

Hi there Dear Readers,

I know it has been a few days since our last post. How are you all doing? Today’s fantastic post comes from a truly fabulous woman in our Marketing team. Chipo – thank you for contributing your words.

Readers, please read this post – I have no doubt that you will be thoroughly inspired.

What is love?

At the risk of sounding very cheesy, I decided to write about love this “Valentine’s month”. Definitely not the most original of topics, because too many songs have been sung, too much poetry has been written, and too many stories been told about love. Yet there is always a need to stop and contemplate this beautiful mystery, because so much more can be said and so much more can be sung.

So what is love? If I had been asked this question ten years ago, I would have talked about weak knees, butterflies in the stomach, warm fuzzy feelings, hearts skipping a beat and all that jazz. I now see things a whole lot differently. You will not always feel warm and fuzzy or weak at the knees. There are going to be days when the person you love does not smell so great or does not look so hot, and days when he or she will irritate you endlessly. Does that mean you don’t love him or her anymore?

Love is what is left when you don’t have an overwhelming itch to throw your arms around the other person. When you don’t feel an urge to go dancing in the rain and shouting on rooftops about how wonderful you feel and how great it is to be in love.

Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.” ―C.S. Lewis

There are times when you look at someone and it seems like the whole world vanishes and it’s just the two of you left. But you know you love someone when you look at them and the whole world does not vanish, but that person is the only thing that matters. You look at them and you do not feel butterflies, there is no warm fuzzy feeling, no weak knees, but pure pleasure in the fact that you have them in your life and that you have the honour of helping them be the best they can be.

Wedding planners get to witness some amazing love stories. If you are a hopeless romantic like me, and would like to be paid to be a part of some amazing love stories, why not register for wedding planning courses at College SA?

Thank you Chipo, it’s refreshing to see that there are still people out there that believe in love. Even though I am a cynic when it comes to love, I know that for many people, planning other people’s weddings can be a great source of joy.

It is almost (thankfully) the end of the so-called month of love. But, for all you budding Wedding Planners out there, love is always all around and you have many weddings to looking forward to planning!!

Take care Dear Readers, and remember to be gentle with yourselves.

Until next time,

S.
