Let it go

Word on the street has it that 2014 was not the greatest of years for many people. I’ve heard too many sad stories of really unpleasant things that some of our students, friends and loved ones experienced in 2014.

Well, thankfully (yes, thankfully), 2014 is officially over. It’s now a new year, with new opportunities.

Good things

It’s okay to spend some time reflecting on what went wrong in 2014. We have to learn from our mistakes, and then, use that knowledge to make sure that we are stronger, smarter and better in 2015.

A word of caution here – and this is the main thing that I want to chat to you about – be careful of spending too much time thinking about what went wrong last year. Do NOT dwell. Do not get trapped in a cycle of negative thinking. Reflect YES; dwell NO!

Once you have done your reflecting …. LET IT GO!!!

Of course, most people associate the phrase ‘Let it go’ with the animated movie called Frozen. And, to be honest, Frozen is what has inspired me today.

lig big

Sometimes, we truly need to LET GO of things / people / memories etc.

And then we have the opportunity for NEW things / people / memories and opportunities. How exciting is that?

At College SA, we are all about giving our students the opportunity to try again. We want you, our students to know that you don’t have to give up on your educational dreams – no matter what happened in the previous year.

We want you to allow yourself to have new hopes and new goals.

Don’t let 2014 be a prison – step away from it and Let it Go.

Let Go, Letting go, prosper, College SA

You can achieve your dreams. You absolutely can.

Now put on your best ‘Princess’ shoes and sing it with me ‘Let it go, Let it go’ ….

Spring has sprung!

It Must Be Spring

Hush, Can you hear it?
The rustling in the grass,
Bringing you the welcome news
Winter’s day is past.
Soft, Can you feel it?
The warm caressing breeze,
Telling you the sticky buds
Are bursting on the trees.
Look, Can you see them?
The primrose in the lane,
Now you must believe it –
Spring is here again.

Can you believe it’s September already? This also means that SPRING is upon us!

Spring – probably the most beautiful and happiest season. There is a burst of colours, pretty smells, and cheerful sounds of birds chirping.

Not to mention that it is no longer a battle to get out of bed in the morning. The sun rises earlier, so we don’t have to wake up to complete darkness anymore. It is also a lot warmer in the mornings, so we can now safely remove the duvet without feeling as though we are going to freeze up at any moment!

Spring is a time for new beginnings. The bare trees from the cold winter months give way to beautiful, blooming flowers, creating a picturesque sight.

We can also “bloom” this spring. It is time to make those changes in your life, and do the things that you have always wanted to do. Don’t settle for less – you deserve better!

How about taking up a few courses that will advance and improve your life and career? It is never too late to make a change – and what better time to do it than SPRING time?

Happy Spring Day, everybody!

Time for a NEW you!

Hi there dear Readers, how are you all doing?

Today’s blog article is inspired by the beautiful Spring sunshine that has come to visit us. I hope I am not jinxing things, but it certainly seems as if Spring has arrived here in Cape Town.

Spring is the season of rebirth after the cold winter months. Spring is when people start smiling more.

Spring is all about new beginnings!

Today I would like to issue you all with a challenge – do something new!  Be bold, be brave, be fabulous!

1) Grow a little this Spring

Grow this spring

Spring is a wonderful time to start planting. Visit  your local nursery and choose plants that you love. You don’t have to be a gardening expert in order to experience the joy of seeing your plants and flowers grow. Get some colour in your life – plant flowers that are bright and beautiful. Don’t feel obliged to plant your flowers in neat rows all according to colour. Mix it up a bit. Don’t be afraid to be a little daring.

2) Say Howdee to a new hobby

It’s absolutely untrue that you can’t do anything creative or funky or artistic. You don’t have to be a genius at anything – just take up a new hobby. Do something you’ve always wanted to do. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. So what if you can’t sing? Grab a hairbrush and sing as if you are serenading the world. Think you can’t paint? Grab some paint and literally splash it onto a canvas. Go a little crazy.

Take up a hobby

Have you always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument? It doesn’t matter if you have less rhythm than a teaspoon. Stop thinking you can’t do it. Find a teacher that can turn you from zero to hero with a guitar.

Learn to play the guitar

If you are the shy type, don’t worry – there are plenty of hobbies that you can do in the privacy of your own home. Nobody has to ever see your wonderful creations. It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something!

3) Let’s get physical

Get your happy hormones pumping through your body with a bit of activity. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting that you trek up Kilimanjaro. Just do something that gets you moving. Even if you are the world’s biggest slob, you can still do something that won’t kill you.

Dance with your soul

Let's get physical

Today I challenge you to do something new or different. Live out your dreams and fantasies. Have the confidence to try new things. Be as camp or as geeky as you want to be.

Click your heels together three times and say “Take me ……

Until next time,
