7 Quotes to Inspire Success

Let’s face it – we all want to be successful. Sometimes we just need a bit of inspiration to get us to where we want to be.

Here are 7 quotes about success that will inspire you to reach new heights, and achieve more than you ever thought was possible. Let’s start off the weekend on a positive note. Remember – you can do ANYTHING that you put your mind to!

  1. “The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself” – Mark Caine

This quote is about wanting more for your life. Don’t simply accept the life that you were given – we are free to change it at any time. You may live in a poverty-stricken area that is rife with crime. But are you stuck there? No! You can improve your life. Study, get a good job, and refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you find yourself.

  1. “If you want to SUCCEED as bad as you want to BREATHE, then you will be SUCCESSFUL” – Eric Thomas

How badly do you want to be successful? If you really want something – so much so that you are willing to fight for it and work consistently hard for it – then you are sure to get it!

  1. “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” – Thomas Edison

Don’t give up! The most successful people got to where they are because they persisted. You are so very close to seeing your dreams come true – so keep at it!

  1. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts” – Winston Churchill

Whether you succeed or fail in your endeavours – keep working hard. You can’t simply sit back and do nothing once you have reached your goals. You need to make sure that you don’t lose what you have achieved – otherwise what was the point in all of your hard work?

  1. “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm” – Winston Churchill

Some people fail over and over again before they eventually succeed. The secret is to not let these failures get the better of you. You need to remain positive, and never lose hope. Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams – you will get there!

  1. “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things” – Leonardo da Vinci

It is very tempting to take the easy way out of situations. We want to be successful, but sometimes we are not willing to work hard to get it. Success is not something that can just fall into your lap. We need to decide what we want from life, and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

  1. “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will” – Vince Lombardi

Successful people are not stronger than us, nor are they smarter than us. So what then sets them apart? How do they become successful? It is quite simple really – they have a WILL to succeed. They WANT to succeed, and so they will! Be determined to reach your goals, and you will.

10 Bruce Lee Quotes Every Student Should Read

There have been many kung fu masters, there have been many movie stars, and there have been many kung-fu-master-movie-stars. But none like Bruce Lee. He was one extraordinary human being: philosophical, wise, the pinnacle of human fitness, and a learner throughout his life.

Bruce Lee was exemplary. He worked ceaselessly to realise his full potential (even though he believed that human potential was unlimited). So why shouldn’t you aspire to be just like him in your studies?

Whether you are already midway into your course, or just thinking about starting, you can learn from Bruce Lee: learn never to give up, to always aspire upwards, to work hard, to get the most out of your studies, and to always seek ways to improve yourself.

So for all you students and prospective students out there, here are 10 Bruce Lee quotes that you need to make your own if you want to succeed:

  1. “Remember no man is really defeated unless he is discouraged.” – Bruce Lee

  1.  Even today, I dare not say that I have reached a state of achievement.

  1. “To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one’s potential.” – Bruce Lee

  1. “To spend time is to pass it in a specified manner. To waste time is to expend it thoughtlessly or carelessly. We all have time to either spend or waste and it is our decision what to do with it. But once passed, it is gone forever.” – Bruce Lee

A teacher is never a giver of truth

  1. “Don’t fear failure. Not failure, but low aim, is the crime.” – Bruce Lee

  1. “To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.” – Bruce Lee

(So don’t ever think your circumstances are stopping you from studying and becoming a success. Let us help you if you think you don’t have the time, opportunity, or money to study).

  1.  Put 'going the extra mile' to work as part of one's daily habit
  2. “Everything you do, if not in a relaxed state will be done at a lesser level than you are proficient. Thus the tensed expert marksman will aim at a level less than his/her student.” – Bruce Lee

      10. “Do not allow negative thoughts to enter your mind for they are the weeds that strangle confidence.” –             Bruce Lee

And here is one last bonus quote for everyone that ever felt like just giving up on their studies. I couldn’t resist including it – even though it is not a Bruce Lee quote, but a quote about Bruce Lee.

One of Lee’s former students, Stirling Silliphant, tells this story:

Bruce Lee Story

Bruce Lee was a university student himself before becoming famous. And it was because of his go-getter, live-life- to-the-fullest philosophy that he could succeed in life the way he did.

So don’t ever think that you aren’t able to succeed in your studies, and in life in general. At College SA, we believe, just like Bruce Lee, that everyone has the potential for greatness. You just need to realise that there is always more that you can be – a new level to reach and exceed.

A tablespoon of fun with a side serving of meaning

Whenever I look for a “wow” status to post on Facebook, (oh, the pressures of social media…) the first person I turn to is Dr Seuss. I know that his quotes are sometimes nonsensical, but I prefer to think of them as a tablespoon of fun with a side serving of meaning.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

I was watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy the other day, and the extremely attractive Dr Jackson Avery provided a good example of how Dr Seuss’s stories can be applied in real life situations. Let me offer you some background before I continue.

Grey’s Anatomy, Season 6, Episode 18:

Dr Derek Shepherd (often referred to as McDreamy), who is now Chief of Surgery, hasn’t operated in months, because he has had to deal with so many other things – like paperwork, meetings and other “boss duties”.

Meredith (McDreamy’s wife) has just been told that she will be assisting the stand-in doctor with a very complicated surgery. Meredith is so excited, because only 4th year students usually get to assist with such surgeries, and yet she was chosen.

Long story short – McDreamy decides to do the surgery himself, and chooses a more senior doctor to assist. Let’s just say that Meredith was not happy…

But in comes blue–eyed beauty, Dr Jackson Avery, who gives Meredith a piece of advice that he learnt from Dr Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas:

“Well, the key is to think of yourself as one of the Whos down in Whoville… You know, when the Grinch came down and stole all their presents, they didn’t let that ruin Christmas for them. You know? Instead they came out on Christmas morning, and they sang. You’re gonna go into that surgery and you’re gonna sing. Sing, Cindy Lou, sing!”

Hearing that, I realised that Dr Seuss is like Ghandi, Deepak Chopra and Oprah, but for the tiny humans (children).

With different lessons in each of his fun-filled stories, Dr Seuss teaches us:

  • How to use our imaginations
  • The importance of the environment
  • The importance of keeping an open mind

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird

And these are just a few of Dr Seuss’s life lessons. So whenever you are looking for a tablespoon of fun with a side serving of meaning, turn to Dr Seuss.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr Seuss
