Daily dose of coffee

“One cup of coffee is all it takes to conquer the world.
 Jarod Kintz

Every morning when I wake up, I immediately brew some coffee. I need that cup of coffee to wake up – I need my coffee before I can start functioning.

Throughout the day, I will continuously and absentmindedly make numerous cups of coffee. I am convinced that it keeps me awake and aware, and that it aids in my quest to keep on going.

Coffee cup

For me, the truly great thing about coffee is that it tastes really good, and that there are many different brands and flavours to choose from. For those days that I feel somewhat down, I mix a spoon of hot chocolate powder into my cup of coffee, to make my own version of a chocochino; sometimes I throw in a handful of mini marshmallows as well. It serves as my comfort, and figuratively speaking, my crutch.

The daily dose of coffee can be seen as a metaphor. We all need different things to make it through a day. For some, it will be a cup of coffee, while others might need an energy drink, or might need to start their day by listening to the news, their favourite song, loud and pumping music, or gentle, soothing music.

Some will exercise in the morning, read the paper, or make time to meditate, pray or read scriptures. There are endless possibilities and routines that each of us follow to help us get through the day.

“Breathe in the sweet air of limitless possibilities, and make life as rich as you know it can be.”  – Ralph Marston

Wake up and live

We should invest in our daily dose of “coffees” – regardless of what it may be for each of us. We need to remember to invest in what makes us happy.

If you invest in these things each day, you will invest in your future. We will not all necessarily live long lives, but as long as we make the most of each day, then it will have been long enough.

“Invest in the future because that is where you are going to spend the rest of your life.” – Habeeb Akande

As each new day dawns, I want you to remember that you are important; you are strong; and if there is a day that you cannot have your daily cup of coffee, remember to just breathe

Carpe Diem!
